Split a PDF into Single Pages

Every page of a PDF as a file of its own, or one file every few pages, in one ZIP.

Runs entirely in your browser

Loading the tool…

Your file is opened by this page and never uploaded. It is not sent anywhere, and the page keeps working with the network off.

Need to combine documents first? Merge PDF is this same editor and takes any number of files at once, so you can join them and drop pages in one go.

This page opens set to save a PDF for each page. Choose the file, and the button saves every page as a file of its own, numbered in order, all in one ZIP. A batch of scanned receipts becomes one file per receipt; a stack of signed forms becomes one per form; a deck becomes slides you can send one at a time.

Documents that come in fixed-length parts split the same way with A PDF every few pages: set it to 2 for two-page forms scanned in one go, or to the length of each chapter. The last file takes whatever is left over. Drop or reorder pages first and the split follows what is in the grid, so a cover page can be left out of every part.

Each file is cut from the original when you press the button, and the pages are copied rather than redrawn, so text stays selectable and every file is no bigger than its own pages.

How to use it

  1. Choose the PDF. It is read here and never uploaded.
  2. Keep A PDF for each page, or choose A PDF every few pages and set how many.
  3. Drop any pages you do not want in any of the files.
  4. Press Download as ZIP. Each file is named after the original and its page numbers.

Questions

How are the files named?

After the original and the pages in each, with the numbers padded so they sort in order: report-page-01.pdf, report-page-02.pdf, or report-pages-01-02.pdf when each file has several. The ZIP is report-split.zip.

Can I split every two pages, or every ten?

Yes: choose A PDF every few pages and set the number. The pages are counted in the order the grid shows, so reorder or drop pages first if the parts should not include them.

How many pages can it split?

There is no set limit. Each file is cut in turn while a bar shows the progress, so hundreds of pages take a little while rather than failing, and the ZIP is stored rather than compressed, since PDFs are compressed already.

Why a ZIP and not separate downloads?

Browsers stop a page from starting dozens of downloads at once, and rightly. One ZIP is one download that every system can open, with the files inside in order.

Is my file uploaded?

No. It is read and rebuilt in this tab by WebAssembly, and the page is served with a rule that forbids it from opening a connection anywhere. Turn the network off once the page has loaded and it works the same, which is the way to check it rather than take it on trust.

The same tool, for other jobs

Each opens Split PDF ready for something else. Everything any of them does, the others can do too.

Your data stays on your device

Everything above runs inside your browser as WebAssembly compiled from Rust. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored on a server. You can load this page once, go offline, and it still works.

This page makes no requests at all, to anywhere. That is not a promise in the copy: it is a Content-Security-Policy header your browser enforces, and connect-src on it is none. Open the network tab and watch nothing happen.
