Type your network's name and password and the code is made: point an iPhone's or an Android phone's camera at it and the phone offers to join the network, with nothing to type. Print it for the fridge, the guest room, a café table or the office meeting room, with a caption like "Scan for WiFi" underneath.

The code holds the network's name, its password and its security type in the format phones read, with any awkward characters in the password escaped so it still works. Your password never leaves this page: the code is made in the tab, and the page is not allowed to open a network connection.

How to use it

  1. Type the network name and the password, exactly as your router has them.
  2. Pick the security; almost every home router is WPA.
  3. Add a caption, then download a PNG to print, or an SVG for any size.

Questions

How do I connect to WiFi with a QR code?

Open the phone's camera and point it at the code. iPhones since iOS 11 and Android phones since Android 10 show a Join prompt; on older phones, a QR scanner app does the same.

Which security should I choose?

WPA for nearly every router made in the last fifteen years, including WPA2 and WPA3. WEP only on very old routers, and None for an open network with no password.

Is my WiFi password safe?

It is not uploaded or stored: the code is made on this page, in your browser. Anyone who can see the printed code can join your network, though, so put it where only guests will see it, or use a separate guest network.

Your data stays on your device

Everything above runs inside your browser as WebAssembly compiled from Rust. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored on a server. You can load this page once, go offline, and it still works.

This page makes no requests at all, to anywhere. That is not a promise in the copy: it is a Content-Security-Policy header your browser enforces, and connect-src on it is none. Open the network tab and watch nothing happen.
