Your signature

Your PDF is opened by this page and never uploaded. It is edited here, in WebAssembly, and the page keeps working with the network off.

Open a PDF and write on it: type into the blanks of a form, sign it with your finger or your mouse, highlight a clause, draw a circle round a mistake, cover a line with whiteout, or drop a logo or a photo onto a page. Everything you add can be moved, resized, recoloured or deleted until you download, and Undo takes back anything. A sample form is open to try it on.

Every other online PDF editor uploads your document to a server and sends it back. This one does not. The file is opened in this tab, the pages are drawn here, and the edited PDF is written here, in WebAssembly; the page is served with a rule that forbids it from opening a connection to anywhere, so it keeps working with the network off. That matters for the documents people edit: leases, contracts, tax forms, medical papers.

What you add is written into the PDF as real PDF drawing, not pasted on as a picture of the page. Text is text, in Helvetica, Times or Courier, sharp at any zoom and searchable; lines and shapes stay crisp; and the original pages underneath are not touched, so their text can still be selected and their links still work.

It is made for a phone as much as for a computer. The tools sit at the bottom of the screen under your thumb; tap the page to type or to place your signature, drag to draw, and use two fingers to scroll while a drawing tool is on.

How to use it

  1. Open your PDF, or drop it on the page. It is never uploaded.
  2. Pick a tool: Text to type, Sign to sign, Draw, Highlight, Whiteout, Shape or Image.
  3. Tap or drag on the page. Select a thing you added to move it, resize it from its corner, or delete it.
  4. Press Download to save the edited PDF.

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The file is read by this page, drawn by a PDF renderer running in the tab, and the edited copy is written by WebAssembly on your device. The page is served with a security policy that forbids it from opening any network connection, so the document cannot leave your computer or phone, and the editor works offline once loaded.

How do I sign a PDF?

Choose Sign, then draw your signature with a finger, a stylus or the mouse, or type your name and have it written in a handwriting style. Press Place it, then tap where it goes on the page. It can be moved and resized like anything else, and Sign again places the same signature on another page.

Can I edit the text that is already in the PDF?

Not in place. Text in a PDF is drawn with the fonts it was made with, usually cut down to the letters the document uses, so rewriting it means having those fonts. What works everywhere is what most editors do underneath: cover the old words with Whiteout and type the new ones on top, in a matching size.

Does Whiteout remove the text under it?

No, and this matters. Whiteout covers what is under it on the page, so it does not print and cannot be seen, but the words are still in the file and can be copied or searched out of it. To really remove something secret, the page has to be rebuilt without it; do not rely on whiteout, or on a black box, to redact.

Will the text I add be selectable?

Yes, in English and the other Western European languages: it is written with the standard PDF fonts, Helvetica, Times and Courier, which every PDF reader carries. Characters those fonts do not have, such as Greek, Cyrillic, Chinese or emoji, are written as a sharp picture of the text instead, so they look right everywhere but cannot be selected.

Does it change the original pages?

No. What you add is laid over each page as a separate layer of drawing. The page itself, its text, images, links and form fields, is kept exactly as it was, and the file is otherwise unchanged.

Can I add, delete or reorder pages?

Not here: this editor is for what goes on the pages. Split PDF and Merge PDF on this site rearrange, delete and combine pages, without uploading either.

Why will it not open my file?

Usually because the PDF is protected with a password. Remove the password in whatever made the file, then open it here.

Each one works the same way: the file is opened in the page and never uploaded.

  • Merge PDF: Combine two or more PDFs into one, with the pages in any order.
  • Split PDF: Take pages out of a PDF, delete the ones you do not want, or reorder them.
  • Compress PDF: Make a PDF small enough to email or upload, by re-saving the pictures inside it.
  • PDF to JPG: Save each page of a PDF as a JPG, PNG or WebP picture.
  • JPG to PDF: Put photos and scans into one PDF, in the order you choose.

Your data stays on your device

Everything above runs inside your browser as WebAssembly compiled from Rust. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored on a server. You can load this page once, go offline, and it still works.

This page makes no requests at all, to anywhere. That is not a promise in the copy: it is a Content-Security-Policy header your browser enforces, and connect-src on it is none. Open the network tab and watch nothing happen.
