Three paragraphs are the usual ask, because three is what it takes to see a layout behave. One paragraph tells you the type size. Two tell you the leading. Three tell you what the block looks like when it wraps, where the rag falls and whether the spacing between paragraphs is doing its job.

Each paragraph here runs to about four sentences, which puts the whole thing near a hundred and twenty words. That is close to a column of body text in a print layout and to a short article intro on the web, so a design that survives it will survive real copy of the same shape.

How many words are three paragraphs?

Around a hundred and twenty here, though it varies by a few either way because the sentences are not all the same length. The exact count for the text on screen is printed beside the output, along with the number of characters, which is the figure you want when a field has a limit.

Why does it show the same text every time I come back?

Because the seed is fixed at 42 rather than random. Repeatable placeholder is the more useful default: a design review where the dummy text changes under you between screenshots is comparing two things at once. Press New seed when you want a different draw.

What is lorem ipsum?

Latin-looking placeholder text, scrambled from Cicero's De finibus of 45 BC and used by typesetters since the 1500s. The point of nonsense is that it cannot be read: real copy in a mockup pulls a reviewer into what it says instead of how the page looks, and English placeholder is worse still because it half-reads.

Is the text sent anywhere?

No. It is generated in this tab by WebAssembly compiled from Rust, so nothing about what you asked for leaves the device and the page keeps working with the network off. There is no account and nothing is stored.
